SCOPE OF WORK:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer specializing in GE Mark VI and Mark VIe control systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, programming, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems for heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines, and balance of plant (BOP) equipment.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Toolbox/ToolboxST, Cimplicity HMI, and industrial cyber security standards, ensuring optimal plant reliability, efficiency, and safety.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, configure, and modify control logic for GE Mark VI/VIe control systems using Toolbox and ToolboxST;
  • Develop, configure, and maintain Cimplicity HMI screens, alarms, and historical data logging;
  • Implement and test modifications to logic, sequencing, and protective parameters in alignment with management of change (MOC) protocols;
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware and software faults on Mark VI/VIe controllers, I/O modules, power supplies, and communication networks;
  • Perform periodic backups of control system configurations, software, and HMI applications;
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot field instrumentation, servo valves, LVDTs, and actuators interfacing with the control system;
  • Lead or support control system upgrades, migrations (e.g., Mark VI to Mark VIe), and major turnaround/outage activities;
  • Perform loop checks, functional testing, and first-fire commissioning of turbines;
  • Provide 24/7 emergency engineering support during plant upsets or critical outages;
  • Ensure control systems comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., NERC CIP, IEEE, IEC 61511);
  • Implement patches, antivirus updates, and network security measures on HMI and historian servers.

REQUIRED COMPETENCES:

  • Advanced knowledge of GE Toolbox, ToolboxST, Cimplicity HMI, and TCI/UDI communication protocols;
  • Deep understanding of Mark VI/VIe architecture (e.g., UCCA, UCCx processors, V-Board and M-Board I/O packs, R, S, T TMR redundancy);
  • Strong grasp of Modbus (RTU/TCP), Ethernet/IP, GSM, and OPC communications;
  • Solid understanding of gas/steam turbine operations, auxiliary systems (lube oil, hydraulic, fuel gas), and thermodynamic principles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline;
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience working directly with GE Mark VI and Mark VIe control systems in a power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environment.
